Mounties have issued a public warning after a woman was attacked on the same Burnaby block where a man was found dead three days before.

The woman was walking home Sunday when a man assaulted her from behind and knocked her to the ground (near Smith Avenue and Gilpin Street).

A homicide investigation was launched after Elmer Libertino’s body was discovered in the same area (near Smith Avenue and Moscrop Street) on Thursday.

Police say they cannot link the two incidents, but are asking people in the area to be extra vigilant and to travel in pairs if possible.
